It's Carnival Season!

Hello!

I had good intentions of making this post over the weekend, but with being in the very busy throes of Carnival Season, there doesn't seem to be enough time for everything on my to-do list. Also, Spring is just around the corner and my garden chores are screaming at me loudly lol! Can I please get an extra 24 hours each day for the next few weeks please??

Although it's a very busy time right now, it's also a very exciting time! It feels so GREAT to have Mardi Gras parades back! The floats, the marching bands, the Krewes, the throws, the music, the dancing, etc, etc, etc, = PURE HAPPINESS!!!

My youngest daughter, Morgan, is a member of the Krewe of Freret and they rolled this last Saturday. Between her job, krewe activities, krewe obligations, 2nd job/dog walker, parade activities preparing for a trip to California for the wedding of one of her best friends, she was struggling with a time crunch of her own, so mama came to the rescue (that's what mama's do). I helped her create her special krewe throws, which consisted of hand-made decorated masks.

Here's her, her float and her throws. Fun Day!!!

I'm also busy creating several of the following throws for Mardi Gras Day. They are glittered pins AND they are also a hint to what our costumes will be this year. The Big Reveal always takes place on Mardi Gras morning, so stay tuned :-)

Mardi Gras Day is one of my favorite days of the year. We love going to the Bywater area where folks show up and show out in the streets with THE MOST FABULOUS CREATIVE costumes you ever did see!!!! Everyone greets each other with a "Happy Mardi Gras!" and the energy is is simply MAGICAL!!! Handmade throws are sometimes exchanged between each other or awarded to folks for their costumes (this happened to us a few years ago!), or just handed to new friends for the sake of gifting <3 Handcrafted art is loved, coveted and appreciated in this magic city of New Orleans!

Here's our costumes and the award Mike and I received a few years ago from some sweet folks. We were surprised, humbled and appreciative to be selected. We were the Duke and Duchess of Pork lol!!! VERY FUN DAY!!!

Anyway, I'm sooooo looking forward to Mardi Gras Day this year after a 2 year break due to Covid (BLAH!!!) I really need that injection of magic that Mardi Gras Day gives me.

But, until then, I'll be putting the pedal to the metal on my sewing machine because as usual, I'm WAY BEHIND!!!

See ya on the streets or on social media!

laissez les bon temps rouler!!!
